WASHINGTON (AP) Feeling chilly? Here's cold comfort: You could be in East Antarctica which new data says set a record for "soul-crushing" cold.
Try 135.8 degrees Fahrenheit below zero; that's 93.2 degrees below zero Celsius, which sounds only slightly toastier. Better yet, don't try it. That's so cold scientists say it hurts to breathe.

Actually, hereabouts you are not far from the truth. Last night it hit -1 degrees F, and it is still only December. I have a sinking feeling the Old Farmer's Almanac prediction of this being one of the coldest winters in recent history is sadly coming about!
Global warming My aunt's limber arse!
Umm. I know the difference. I was going off of memory about the story on Prince Harry. I thought I remembered it said Antarctic.
Weather. It changes. Sometimes it hangs in the middle, in between extremes, for months and months. Sometimes we hit one extreme one year and the other extreme the next.
The summer of 2012 was the worst drought I’ve ever seen. This past summer we more than doubled our yearly rainfall by mid July and easily tripled it by October.
But, but it is late Spring, almost early summer in Antartica! Why so cold? Is it glo-bull warming?
Buy an
argentine map. Our South is at the top of their map where our North is.
But it’s a dry cold.
That is when Luke was on the Hoth System. Han found him before he froze, but Han’s Ton-ton died in the cold. Han used Luke’s Lightsaber to cut open the Ton-ton and keep Luke warm.
Wow, that picture could have been me several years ago on the 4th of July at my sister’s house. After several martinis I thought the doorwall to the back deck was open,.........

It’s a control issue for them but you have the right attitude and see all of their good points.
People are interesting,aren’t they?
.
Coldest I’ve ever experienced, and briefly, was -30 F. Literally could not breathe without covering my nose and mouth with a scarf, trying without felt like air was being sucked out more than being inhaled, stabbing knives sensation when I succeeded. You could feel nosehairs freezing, eyes watered and tears froze. Not pleasant, killing cold. I wouldn’t want to live like that.
I was playing with a Frisbee at the South Pole in the summer of 1983. We were inside the dome.
The Frisbee didn’t last long. In flight, it nicked (barely scraped the rim) of a pole - it shattered into hundreds of shards in an instant. It looked like it had exploded
Newcomers to the station frequently showed up to meals with characteristic white blisters on their noses. These came from stepping off the plane and raising their frozen camera to their face (and nose) to take thir first picture of the place.
The previous record cold was set in the winter of 1983 at our nearest neighbor (Vostok). I spent the next year at Amundsen-Scott.
Ever heard of the “300 Club”?
I saw my brother do that at my folks place one time.
