That's an interesting question. Depending on how much those loops cost nowadays. I think I got them at Woolworth's or Grants. Neither place is around anymore. Heh.

Maybe a buck? Caldors brings back memories. Goodness! We got *everything* there....then along came Ames....and neither exist, but only in our warped memories.

Did your sis make those yarn snakes? with the spool thing

Using mom's yarn scraps; we'd coil them into potholder type circles, coasters and chair seat covers. Gawd that was so long ago.

No, she didn’t make those, but since you mentioned:

1) Bought my first music at Grants - “Hanky Panky” by Tommy James, and The Shondells. Had to make two trips, because the lady on the phone said the 45RPM record was 69 cents, but I had no clue about sales tax, so I was a few cents short, when I showed up, at the cash register.

2) My first ‘real’ job was at Woolworth’s. Minimum wage had just gone up to $2.01 an hour. I cleared $31 the first week, and thought I was rich!

The good old days - they were good, and I am old ;)
