The Trader Joe's in my neighborhood is small, the fresh vegetable department is tiny, and the meat is already seasoned and packaged in plastic wrap. The wine/spirits department takes up at least 1/3 of the store. The food items on the shelves is mostly precooked, canned or boxed stuff that you open and heat up.

We have a Fresh Market in our area and I am sorely disappointed with it too. They do have nice flowers at a good price.

We have a great meat market where they sell excellent meat and nearby we have a fish market that is fabulous. My husband is a great cook, mostly cajun cooking but he loves to cook anything.

Well I love the small fresh seafood markets and fresh meat markets too….and fresh produce markets too for that matter - but those are not grocery stores. Completely different stores, completely different functions.
