I think this all stems from parents/the ACLU suing schools for disciplining children; so now the schools just say OK we’ll call the cops.

Probably, but so what? How does that explain the cops showing up? If you were the cops and the school called with this 'issue', even if there were no actual crimes taking place, would you say anything other than "Buzz off. I'm in the middle of a donut here!"

Wouldn’t that arrest need a sworn statement, with a warrant issued by a Judge or Magistrate upon probable cause? Unless this was a felony. The officer should have gotten statements of witnesses, and approached the court. The Judge, if in his right mind, would tell the officer, get the hell out of the court.

That’s a good point. I don’t know if they have the ability to refuse to come if called, but they certainly are not required to arrest people (I don’t think, not for burping or misbehaving).

And if I were a taxpayer there I would very much like to know how much of my money was paid out in the “sealed” class suit settlement.
