An Iraq veteran who thought he was buying an iPad as a Christmas present after responding to a Craigslist posting, has been shot dead in an Indianapolis parking lot by the fake sellers. New-dad Jim Vester, 32, was lured to an address on Wednesday in the west side of the city and brothers Tyron Kincade, 19, and Tyshaune Kincade, 18, have been arrested after Vester was shot dead leaving behind his one-year-old son, Gavin and wife, Jamie. In the wake of the senseless murder, nearly 1,500 people have donated $58,000 to a YouCaring.com fundraiser set up by Vester's family for the man described as a 'great cook, loving father and faithful man.' 'He would drop everything and cross town to help you and your family,' friend Master Sgt. Jerry Wurm said.

I’ll second that.
This wasn’t the projects, it was in Wayne Twp on the west side, west of Speedway. Kind of a mixed area nationality wise, old white folks, some blacks and hispanics, some younger white people.
Just follow them home and see what you have.
Such a senseless act. Prayers offered for the family.
I’ve bought and sold tons of stuff on Craigslist, with nary a problem. Millions of items are sold there everyday. Just use common sense, and I doubt there’s any higher incidents of crime than anywhere else.
That he was a veteran is relevant because it suggests that a life of evident value and valor was ended, by a pair of worthless scum, for no damn good reason.
They should never again walk as free men. This was premeditated, and the full weight of the military should be brought upon them.
>>Why is the fact that hes a veteran relevant to the story?
Because, in today’s media, that’s the only way they value a white man’s life. If he wasn’t a veteran, then young Tyrone and Tashaunne (or whatever his stupid pseudo-african name is) would be getting the “they was choir boys who loved their mother” treatment.
Wait til' you see their Facebook pages:
Such bright futures, these two young scholars...
CR is no different than newspaper classifieds (almost vanished now) or eBay.
Craig Newmark gets trashed on FR because he supports lib politicians. Which is true, but by FR standards you can find a reason to boycott nearly any commercial venture or internet portal.
Thanks for the clarification.
The story states that the victim thought of it as “not the best of areas”. In any event, I think the advice to meet in a neutral, public place is the best precaution.
Bull cheet...
Craigslist is probably the best buy and sell site there is.
I've made dozens of seamless transactions on Craigslist.
If you are that afraid, ya better lock the door to your bedroom and stay there.
Got any stats? I've bought and sold on CL without any problems at all.
I wouldn’t trust anyone I didn’t know. Especially anyone named Tyshaune.
God has a special treat for these murderous viruses, I think.
I’d love to know the full scoop. This guy was a war vet and was carrying a gun per local news.
Must have been an ambush he failed to detect.
I went to high school with Jim, and my grandmother works with his mom at the hospital. It still saddens me every time I think about it and I didn’t even know him that well. But he was a good guy, and a new Christian last I saw him some 8ish years ago.
Incidentally, this did show up in local newspapers and tv broadcasts. Not sure what I think of the fact that a paper across the pond picked this up.
Flashing gang signs.
A more local paper gives a lot more detail ...

“Never agree to meet anywhere except in a McDonalds or some other public place.”
Yes, the more crowded the better.
If you see an advertisement on Ebay, Craigslist, or wherever for an Apple product at a bargain price, something is not right. The merchandise is most likely stolen, damaged in some way or fake.
Repeat: Apple does NOT discount their products. You want a 32GB Wi-Fi Ipad Air with Retina display? It's going to cost you $599 at every legitimate venue. Get used to it.
I hate that this guy got killed looking for a bargain on an iPad. May the killers be convicted and tortured for the rest of their lives. But damn, this guy should have just bought a Kindle Fire or something if he couldn't afford to buy the iPad at list price.
I say once again. Apple does NOT discount their pricing. What you see online is what you should expect to pay. If you see a price that is lower and need to drive to some sketchy neighborhood to close the deal, something is WRONG.
