An Oklahoma teens parents are accusing police in Houston of racial profiling after the girl and her companions for a dance event were stopped by authorities and she was taken to child protective services.
According to KHOU-TV, the incident happened Sunday when 13-year-old Landry Thompson from Tulsa, Okla., was in Houston to film a hip-hop dance video. Thomson was accompanied by her dance instructor, 29-year-old Emmanuel Hurd, and her dance partner, 22-year-old Josiah Kelly. Thompson is white and the two men are black.

Still, no 13 year old should be out and about unsupervised like that.
There’s more to this than we’re seeing, dunno what.
I am too lazy to read this whole story, and maybe the cops over reacted, and I’m sure there are many fellows you could trust with your 13 year old daughter, but let me just say this: I would NEVER have done this as a mom. “Sure honey, you can do that, I’ll just tag along”, that’s what I would have said.
I am more connected to popular culture than you are, but I understand your reaction. Cable TV and the Internet allow people live in cocoons of their own making. You can find a lot of high-minded, educational programming and websites, but even more titillating entertainment that’s bad for one’s soul.
It is harder to raise kids now in a time of omnipresent depravity than it was 40, 30, or even 20 years ago. These parents and their indifferent or permissive attitudes do their child no favors. Finding the balance can be difficult in what you allow your kids to do so they can develop into responsible adults. These parents allowing their kid to travel under these circumstances is extremely negligent IMHO.
I'll side with the cops here. Oklahoma Child Protective Services probably need to put the girl in a foster home.
Legally, with the notarized signature (and maybe a phone call), the adult instructor should have retained custody.
Adults come in all colors.
However, so do men who molest girls. No young teen should be escorted by unrelated men overnight anywhere ever. Period.
Girl looks like she isn’t exactly a low mileage model.
And they continued their great adventure.
How do three people “doze off” simultaneously? That makes no sense at all.
Agreed.
On both points.
The police, IMO acted properly.
It’s interesting to me that according to the KHOU-TV report, it is the PARENTS that are accusing the police of racial profiling ?
Not the “black men” involved.
Is Houston’s curfew still actively enforced for minors?
It wasn’t when Mayor Bill White’s teenaged daughter was arrested after curfew for drinking and driving (she was released at 7am and all charges were subsequently dropped when the officer “on his own” changed his story regarding her actions).
Been that way since at least the mid-80s.
Answer: A mother who's 13 year old daughter will soon lose her virginity and be pimped out by and for black men.
Sorry if the truth hurts anyone's feelings here.... Not.
My bet is that they where ALL in the Back Seat.
“Sleeping”
Whatever.
I still say IT IS A SET UP !!!
I have no problem with what the cops did. She is 13, younger than the 2 guys....WTF are the parents thinking, someone needs to play the knockout game with them, maybe gain some perspective or something.
Probably a “look, we’re not racist and prejudiced like the rest of Oklahoma, look we trust our underage daughter with 2 black male adults”
so the girl is Destiny’s Child.....
I think a black 13/yo child with 2 white men might raise the same suspicions. Asian or a latina may not, kind of hard to tell at a glace
100% agree
Landry’s mom, Destiny Thompson is stupid if she trusts her 13 year old with these guys! She might as well put a ‘for sale’ sign on her daughter’s forehead!
Not forehead.
so the girl is Destinys Child..
Very well Played.
