Amen - aquatic ape theory is fascinating.

It actually makes more sense than the trees to savannah theory. Because if we went from the trees to the savannah we would end up looking more like this...

well, personally, I'm jealous of the hair in trees-to-savanah version of us...but yeah, i was amazed at the number of physiological issues the water ape theory answers.

Was watching a show that presented the theory, and a thing that stuck with me is how that took a troop of chimps that lived by the water, and started out dropping off a lot of food near the water. Old chimps would wipe the fruit clean of sand, and keep their distance from the water. Younger chimps figured out pretty quick that the lake did a more efficient job of cleaning food, and weren't adverse to going into the water. In less than a generation you had chimps hooting and hollering as they were jumping off cliffs into the water. I know that's no genetic change, but it sure showed a propensity to go aqua.
