About 30 years ago I took two Mediterranean cruises free of charge. Unfortunately it was aboard the USS Nimitz and the accommodations were sub par. Was able to visit some interesting places though.

In 1995, wife and I and another couple sailed from Two Harbors, Minnesota to Rouge Steel, north of Detroit. The accommodations were courtesy Interlake Steamship aboard one of their iron ore carriers.
Good chow and an unlimited supply of Molson’s.
