Ours conked out after about four years. I think the power surges (primitive grid here) killed the fridge, but the dishwasher had a design flaw (motherboard vulnerable to water drippage). Mr. Sg removed the darned thing and made a nice cabinet with a substantial pull-out shelf. The new fridge is seriously no-frills.

There will really be sales if we can make it last until after Christmas, but I don’t really want to take the risk of it’s not cooling at Christmas. It would be one thing if we could count on cold weather, but it might be 80.
