I admit to a somewhat spotty grasp of the facts of the case beyond the basics of the central figures but I’m afraid that government and the legal system have contributed greatly to my cynicism over the years.
Mike DeWine was, as many here will recall, one of the Gang of 14 and a museum-grade RINO. He may be looking out for the victim’s best interests but he’s certainly no stranger to seeking the political limelight. The administrators may be guilty of one or more crimes but DeWine may very well be attempting to intimidate by going after the higher-ups.
I think he wants to run for a higher office and this will get him notoriety. That stated, there were so many coverup rumors that I’m glad he stepped in. Two examples:
1. The prosecutor’s kids are very good friends of the kids involved and her son was rumored to have been at one of the parties.
2. The sheriff is very good friends with the coach (who is a local god) and even employs him to motivate jailed youth. I’m pretty sure the coach does nothing in that capacity and just cashes the checks.
