“Less ritalin and more running around.”

Ritalin is not the psychotropic drug of choice
for most cases these days. And, if running
around was all the boys did it would be great.
Unfortunately they tend to grab everything in
sight putting you, them, and the object they
grab in peril. I have worked in a residential
Tx facility for 16 yrs, including 5 yrs as a
woodshop instructor. I have seen tons of ADHD
and every other affliction.

If a kid can play x-box for 5 hours straight, he ain’t got ADHD.

This is a very real affliction. My brother has it and my two sons have it. They were crashing and burning until we got help. We had complete neuro work ups, testing. It was clear they were not wired correctly. After treatment my struggling sons are now performing well in school, they feel good about themselves. They socially fit. When they are off the medication all the symptoms return. Kids without it do not react well to medication. Significant amount of kids that go untreated go on to abuse alcohol and drugs in an effort to self medicate. If you haven't lived with it is hard to believe just like alcoholism. Why can't they straighten up? Because they can't.
