No, he did not. However, it was LBJ who killed America with his War on Poverty and Vietnam War.

Roger that. I hated every moment I was in Vietnam. Before I went, I did not want to go. While I was there, I did not want to be there. After I left, I wished I had not been there. Yes, I did my duty, but that does not mean I had to like it, I surely did not.

LBJ had true faith in LBJ and no other. However, for some reason he developed a liking for his former foe John G. Tower.
