“...JFK was swore his oath in January of 1960...”

His shady election victory over Nixon was in 1960. He was sworn in on January 20th, 1961.

I repeat, without the myth of Camelot, LBJ could not have passed all the socialist legislation in the 60’s and the media could not have demonized conservative politicians.

If you were an observer of the political scene after the death of Kennedy, you would understand. He and Jackie were mythologized and made the subject of a worshipful cult. All of LBJ’s left-wing legislation was passed because it was what JFK “would have wanted.” Goldwater didn’t have a chance in 1964. Camelot was always there to help LBJ who ironically was hated by JFK.

To be a nitpicker on this thread, JFK was sworn in in January of 1961, and LBJ was sworn in while the Air Force One jet was still on the ground in Dallas.

They needed a local TX judge to make it official.

They took off right after that.

As to the rest, it is unbelievable, but necessary to see what the current POTUS limo has.

Remember when the limo got caught up on a speed bump a couple of years ago? it's a very heavy tank like vehicle.

There is an actual compartment to seal off the President if the car gets blown up. God forbid.

I lived through those years. The AMA spoke out against Medicare in 1965, said it would boost up medical costs like crazy. It happened.

Conservatives spoke out against Head Start, said it wouldn’t raise the children’s academic standing. Studies bear this out for the past 40 years.

Food stamps and all kinds of welfare programs, the “War on Poverty” were supposed to help the poor, but it just created hell on earth in every inner city.

All this started with the bills LBJ introduced, using the myth of Camelot to manipulate the emotions of Congress and the American people. “Jack would have wanted it.”

Yep. If you read "Conscience of a Conservative" by Barry Goldwater, he predicted EVERYTHING that would happen if LBJ's programs went through.

We're talking 1964, and how was Goldwater "rewarded"? With an overwhelming defeat.

50 years later, and we're STILL paying the bills that LBJ racked up.

Oh, and Goldwater was considered a "racist" for telling the truth.

Much like EVERY conservative that dares to be honest.

JFK was swore his oath in January of 1960. He wasn’t “the newly sworn in President” on 11/23/63, but why let facts get in the way of a liberal tear jerker?

January of 1961...

Look at it this way: Lyndon Johnson was looking at the end of his chances at the Presidency when that motorcade began its fateful journey in Dallas. RFK hated him & JFK was preparing to drop him from the ticket in 1964, an unusual step if one’s Veep is not regarded as a political liability.

Then shots were fired and everything changed for LBJ. In an instant, he became President. A year later, Johnson was elected in his own right in a landslide.

So maybe LBJ thought it was meant to be & the forces of destiny favored his rise to power. Soon after his inauguration, he proclaimed his “Great Society”, he devalued our coinage, sent ground troops into Vietnam, signed the catastrophic Immigration Reform Act, the list goes on.

The Oval Office was hardly large enough to contain LBJ’s huge grin in that spring of 1965.

Without the myth of Camelot, LBJ could not have passed all the socialist legislation in the 60's and the media could not have demonized conservative politicians. Darn near everything evil in Washington today was made possible by this tragedy.

Indeed. The liberal/left press ignored the fact that JFK was a mediocre president who was killed by a Communist and turned him into a martyr for the cause of civil rights and "social justice."

Goldwater didn’t have a chance in 1964. Camelot was always there to help LBJ who ironically was hated by JFK.

Coming as it did after JFK's assassination, Goldwater's presidential campaign was faced with the formidable task of overcoming the "sympathy vote" and the "Camelot" myth. Furthermore, because JFK was now a martyr, Goldwater couldn't make campaign issues out of his policy failures.

Goldwater was also handicapped by prominent RINOs who stabbed him in the back throughout the 1964 campaign; Rockefeller, Scranton and Romney, all of whom had made a try for the nomination that year.

After losing the nomination, Rockefeller, Scranton and Romney pretty much sat on their hands during the fall campaign and wouldn’t help Goldwater. On the other hand, Richard Nixon stumped the country from September to November, making more than 100 appearances on the nominee’s behalf.

Indeed, that gave him the nomination on the next election cycle. The delegates to that convention were still irritated at the Three RINOs who had stabbed Goldwater in the back and created the myth of the “extreme” right wing.

There was no grand conspiracy to assassinate JFK; Oswald acted alone. But LBJ benefited greatly from the death of JFK.

Simple enough?
