All the action today appears to be in the Senate. They just finished voting on a motion to proceed to confirm one of Obama's nominees to the DC Court of Appeals, and it failed to get the necessary 60 votes to proceed. This is the 3rd nominee that the GOP has blocked, and Reid had threatened to go nuclear, to change the rules by a simple MAJORITY vote. Before that could happen, McConnell moved that the Senate adjourn until 5PM..a privileged motion which must be voted on. The roll call is underway.
Horrible moment in U.S. history.
the founders set it up this way as i understand it....for what it’s worth i heard GB this morning reading some stuff from the founders...
It would have been to the country's advantage if the change was made when Frist and McConnell proposed it. The judges held up then weren't socialists like Obama's nominees.
Aside from that, yes, I agree. Long past time to correct the damage caused by Democrat obstruction via abuse of parliamentary procedure and rules.

The kenyan is clearly planning on ruling by EO if the GOP takes the Senate. So he needs the DC court packed.
The rules were changed in 1850 by some idiots who were definitely not the founders. Finally fixing a 200 year BS problem.
Original Constitutionalists should approve of this move. Scone when did Free Republic begin calling the Founders wrong on their thinking?
It always helps to have the situation described by a respected news source, though.
Spelling error in their poster.
Refusal to pack courts with corrupt partisan judges is not dysfunction. It is among the greatest benefits to the nation.
Just as Obama and the Democrats own the disaster that is Obamacare, they will own these corrupt judges until the corrupt judges are gone.
An amendment to put the supermajority for cloture rules in the Constitution would be a useful response, and further, systematic removal of any judge who was not approved by the constitutional supermajority. That would not require presidential approval, but would require 2/3rds of house and senate, and 3/4s of state legislatures.
I would also suggest an 8 year term for any federal judge.
Selecting judges from the center is an important thing. Ideologes from left or right should not sit on the bench.
More than 1 error there. They are stupid and they are ruthless.
Not a good mix.
People are commenting on this sign on twitter as we speak.
I tend to agree. By point was that there can be a refocusing by Dems and the media on “disfunction” (which slama both parties) at the expense of focus on Obamacare (which the Dems fully own)
I’ve modified my position on this in the last couple hours. The Republicans should let this slide. The goal is to capture the Senate. The path to getting there is Obamacare. Everything else is a distraction. And baiting the GOP into distraction is what the Dems want to do.
Although it might be nice to hint that, upon regaining the Senate, the GOP will do away with all filibusters ... And send to Obama an omnibus bill that includes restarting Yucca Flats.
