I fostered a Basset for several weeks and found him well behaved and he got along well with other dogs. He loved to roam which might explain how he came to be homeless. The last dog I acquired in March 2008 on an icy day not far from home. He was underweight but happy and healthy, running loose on a busy four lane street. Long story short I took him to my Vet, they found a chip identifying him as being adopted 1 yr earlier in a city some 75 miles from me. They said I could keep him or take him to jail. This said while the huge orange dog was sitting in my lap as if we were lifelong buddies, though it was only day two, I think. As it happened he was house trained, never destructive, invariably friendly to all. Setting aside is ravenous appetite and instance that every meal be shared he's the perfect dog.

He is part Golden, Border Collie, and some sort of Hound. When I walk in the door or squeeze a squeak toy he goes to howling- a lot like a Basset Hound, in fact.

Well, just a follow up after the Vet.

He’s not part Beagle, he’s 100% basset hound. 2.5 years old and great shape and condition.
