The interwebs tell me the lifespan of these things is 10 years... so I’m guessing they are only sending the old geezer turkeys in to get pardoned. Otherwise, why would they need to get euthanized so soon?

These birds probably had zero chance of ending up on the dinner table in the first place.

See my post #21. Wild turkeys can live ten years or more. They may be the same species but are quite a different animal than table turkeys.

Even among chicken breeds, the lighter egg laying breeds will live a considerably longer life than the heavier meat breeds. And the meat breeds aren't even in the same ballpark as table turkeys. They are perfectly capable of copulation and only do it a little less frequently than the lighter egg-laying breeds.
