Etymology:Origin: 1840–50, Americanism; back formation from preemption

Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the Word for the Day in a sentence.
The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day.

I went to get some milk out of the container this morning, and I found it to be preemptory.

after beating ND the previous day. weird.
but even weirder was the Caps rout of the Blues last night. yea, the Blues played the night before and changed time zones to come play here, but they looked like total crap. we will see how Weds night goes. I cannot BELIEVE that the pens lost to the flyers, that is just mindboggling to me.

Well, hockey doesn’t really count in November and the Flyers will always play up to beat the Pens and vice versa.
