Most gas pumps I see have a sticker that says ~”may contain ethanol”, so I can never really tell if it’s gasoline or some “green” EPA kr@p.

Odd, I'd read a different article here on FR which stated the EPA was relaxing the requirement to include ethanol, partially due to them finally figuring it out that Ethanol does NOTHING to reduce dependence on foreign oil and in fact makes us burn more due to the fact it's an MPG killer.

The person that develops a centrifuge and or chemical additive to nullify this crap at home will be a wealthy man or women. Unfortunately they may have to open source the plans for said device or additive as Lear Deeder and his minheons will not be happy with going around their Youtopian Paradice as they profit from said machine. It would be even more delicious if it could be printed via a 3D printer :-)...

Signalman :" While ethanol-free fuel is still an available at most gas stations, it’s going to cost more due to the absence of the cheaper ethanol."

Ethanol is NOT CHEAPER !!
By the time you add machinery, fuel for the ag machinery, fertilizers, pesticides ,harvest machinery, etc. it costs $1.29 per $1.00 of ethanol.
Ethanol is cheaper only because it is Government subsidized !!
Any wonder why many of the ethanol producers are mostly Dems ?

In northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin, one can find ethanol-free gasoline pretty easily (Kwik Trip is partial to it, and they sell eggs for 99 cents, Shell has some suchg stations as well), but only in premium grade. For small engines (lawn tractors, weed whackers, snow blowers, etc.) it is pretty much necessary. For older cars and better mileage, it is a good idea, though not necessarily worth the cost premium depending on what you drive.

Look at the EPA web site for mileage comparisons of various vehicles and their flex fuel versions using E-85 (85% ethanol/15% gasoline). With E-85 the mileage drops considerably. Several years ago the State of South Dakota discontinued using E-85 in their flex fuel fleet because the cost per mile was too high despite E-85 being about 24 cents per gallon cheaper.

I was pleasantly surprised to learn that no ethanol gas is sold in Alaska.

I drive diesel so ethanol in gas doesn’t concern me.But if I’m not mistaken state governments are mandating “biodiesel” of such a blend as to specifically violate the warranty requirements of the manufacturers...5% biodiesel...max.
