On Halloween, I watched Diana West give the keynote address at the Pumpkin Papers Irregulars annual dinner in Washington, DC. She described in detail how our obsession with not offending the Russians hampered our efforts to curb Soviet espionage and subversion in the 1930s and 1940s and compared that outlook to todays concern with not offending Muslims which stymies our efforts to cope with jihadist terrorism.
