Something is not ringing 100% true on this story. I’m holding off believing anything on this until more information is developed. It could be a bad actor somehow got into this “community center” and got access to the toddler. It also could be nothing much more than someone trying to hit the lawsuit lottery. We’ll see.

Well the Bible says pastors are judged differently.

IMO people who are in leadership positions of any kind should be held to a higher standard. Doesn’t mean the average Joe can’t do the right thing of course.

What it does mean, is that he fully intended to cover it up.

Why would it have to mean that, maybe it just scared the hell out of him as it would any one else who are not accustomed to dealing with something like that.

Makes sense.

Yeah i guess it makes sense but i believe if i were going to a church that had to have these kind of controls i sure as hell would not let go of my two year old child.

Why would it “scare the hell out of him” unless he had covered up similar abusive incidents previously?

Who or what do you think he actually feared?

Are you bipolar? You accuse me of making excuses for the rapist and the pastor and you ask about sarcasm?

seek help

I think you have clearly demonstrated on this thread, exactly who it is that needs “help”.

I could pray that you seek it, but it's fairly obvious you won't.

Sexual Predators go where their prey is.
They look and act like everyone else.

The reason that the problem with them has gotten so bad is because people desperately want to believe that other people who seemed so nice and so safe were as nice and as safe as they appeared.

They can be your pastor, your policeman, or your spouse. They can be male or female. They can be a teen or a grandparent.

And every preconception about them you cling to, helps ten of them slip by.

I just read through all of the comments and yes, sarasmom, you were unnecessarily jumping up and down on a fellow freeper. Driftdiver didn't excuse anyone of any wrongdoing. Believe it or not, people do not always react as we expect them to when they are faced with inconceivable situations. That's not an excuse--that's an observation.

Since you have now weighed in with your considered opinion...allow me to re-state mine, with you in mind.

You, sir or madamn, are an idiot, in my considered opinion.
The sexual abuse of children was specifically addressed by Jesus Christ himself.

Your “observation” is fatally flawed, in that you appear to pretend that the evil act of child abuse is an inconceivable situation, amongst a group who openly call themselves Christians, and who you seem to claim a fellowship with.

You are also guilty, IMHO, of attempting to excuse the inexcusable, under color of ...what?
Exactly what do you base your very superior compassionate support of excusing evil on?

Certainly not biblical scripture, and certainly not under color of any spiritual belief system that comprehends good versus evil to be objectively true.

Grandvale Corps Community Center

I'm not familiar with that denomination. Do they worship community?

A few years back I attended a meeting describing new measures by our church to further ensure our children’s safety. The new requirements included background checks. I read the documents and raised my hand.

“It strikes me that if Jesus and his twelve disciples were to apply to work in our Children’s Church, the only one who would be eligible is Judas.”

Judas was never convicted of a crime.

People who wish to target children are frequently drawn to jobs or positions which allow access.

Yep and it’s why one never puts a child OR and adult in this kind of situation. Having multiple adults attend to children safeguards both. Puts a roadblock between a predator or an adult being falsely accused.
