I had a similar discovery a year ago... I thought I was half German and half Norwegian. It turns out that I am half German, 3/8 Norwegian, and 1/8 Sioux Indian. There were a lot fewer entertainment options available during those long North Dakota winter nights back in the day.

Have you looked at the Indian Census rolls? They are available through about 1939 - begin in the late 1890’s. They were taken nearly every year or so.

I find it a bit odd that my MIL “heard” her grandma was Indian, but doesn’t KNOW that for absolute certain. Geesh, I know exactly what my grandparents were.
