We have policemen, why do those people need guns? (sarcasm). When I encounter people who talk like that I ask them why we need smoke detectors and fire extinguishers because, after all, we have firemen.
This home invasion crap is getting more and more out of control every day.
Groan - just when we were starting to see handgun ammo back on the shelves here in Indy. (except for 22LR and .357 range ammo - it’s still scarce)
Now you know why the left wants to take guns away from normal people.
(So that the poor, ‘oppressed’ underclass can just waltz right in and take whatever it wants - kind of income redistribution.)
I prefer 1911.
Again let me beat the drum that home defense should be imagined much like the in-trench trench warfare of World War I, as they are tactically very similar. This means pistol in one hand and fighting knife in the other hand.
At your leisure, take a measuring tape to figure out the typical engagement distances in your home. That is, one end of a hallway to the other, from one room at the right angle looking into another, etc. All told, these distances will probably be around 15 feet or less.
Tueller drill, plus alcohol, drugs, and adrenaline, means that a home invader can feel bulletproof and close the gap quickly. Even if you get a couple of rounds in him, he might still be in your face.
Right where that fighting knife is of optimal value.
It really is easy to adjust to the idea of guns and knives being twins, things that go well together, and are complementary to each others’ purpose. If you carry one, carry the other.
