I came in from work this morning and put on "Pretzel Logic" by Steely Dan. When "Barrytown" came up, I thought about our current White House resident. Then as I listened to the words, I realized that the song echoed my feelings toward our modern-day "Barrytown"; (BHO & friends)
Here are the lyrics, and click the link to hear it on you tube.
I'm not one to look behind I know that times must change
But over there in Barrytown they do things very strange
And though you're not my enemy
I like things like they used to be
And though you'd like some company
I'm standing by myself
Go play with someone else
I can see by what you carry that you come from Barrytown
Don't believe I'm taken in by stories I have heard
I just read the Daily News and swear by every word
And don't think that I'm out of line
For speaking out for what is mine
I'd like to see you do just fine
But look at what you wear
And the way you cut your hair
I can see by what you carry that you come from Barrytown
In the beginning we recall that the word was hurled
Barrytown people got to be from another world
Leave me or I'll be just like the others you will meet
They won't act as kindly if they see you on the street
And don't you scream or make a shout
It's nothing you can do about
It was there where you came out
It's a special lack of grace
I can see it in your face
I can see by what you carry that you come from Barrytown
great tune! thanks
Barrytown was the nearby location of a seminary that the Unification Church bought out and took over.
Back in the day, or before the day I used to get this lovely blonde 17 year old girl to drive me around in her red 65 mustang convertible and play Steely Dan.
I was a pup, but that still makes me smile.
My favorite Dan song of all time.
My dog sings along to Fagan's Snowbound off the Kamakiriad album
doing his best wolf impersonation during the Chorus...
Snowbound
Let's sleep in today
Wake me up
When the wolves come out to play
Heat up
These white nights
We're gonna turn this town
Into a city of lights
I did have a Red Fender Mustang at one time ...
Barry Lied
And my health care’s Crucified
And I’m on the Other Side
Of non-compliance
He came in,
You can see the shape we’re in!
When he says that Global Warming’s “Settled Science”!
Barry lies
With his lips attracting flies
Bit by bit, our freedom dies
(It’s his agenda)
Fits of Spite
And Goodbye to Civil Rights
Unless you’re lesbian, gay, or transgender!
Are you with me GOP
Are you now merely a shadow of —what you used to be?
What dirt have they got on you,
Or are they merely paying you
Are you with me, Pubbies?
(I amuse myself...carry on!)
The old Mustang.
That was the finest guitar I ever owned.
Well the family went in on one threesies for all of us boys.
I think we smashed iit up fighting LOL
Then I made my own guitar a flying V
Cut up one of Dads solid wood doors
not a hanging door, but an old one in the garage.
Yeesh I was an ahole
I wonder what ever happened to that guitar?
I think I sold it for a cool $25 LOL
