Does anyone know the justifiable homicide by police officers rates over the decades?
I don’t yet, but looking at some figures from the 1950s, it sure varies from city to city, which means from one department to another.
Recently, there seems to be a clear increase not in cop killing people in general, but in cops killing people, when they are the ones under attack. “”when the justifiable homicides carried out by law enforcement officers in response to attacks on them are examined, the result is quite different. From 1980 to 1984, the average
number of such homicides was 153, or 39% of the total number. However, for 2004 to 2008, the average number was 255, or 68% of the total””
I have read that white female cops have a higher “stand off and kill” rate than others, we need to make an effort to start putting numbers together so that we can see what the reality is.
This kid was long past any lesson-teaching.
At 19 and acting like this, that horse done ran outta the corral a long, long time ago.
When this was America, many an unruly teenager had an episode of taking Dad’s vehicle for a joy ride. And they’d often wind up getting chased by cops. The part about the teen getting gunned down in cold blood? Well, that’s part of living in the new USSA. (We’re exceptional!)
My uncle once stole my grandfather’s car and wrecked it. Rather than face his Dad, he walked into town, signed up for the Army, and didn’t come home until WWII ended.
There is a problem with people expecting government intervention to solve their personal problems.
Thank you to the officers involved good job.
Hell no. I tell my kids to avoid contact with police. Sadly.
My daughter is actually majoring in criminal justice so she knows a lot about police procedures and the like.
Tough to feel sorry for this kid... while I fully understand the legitimate concerns about today’s “warrior cops”. This kid was out of control.
Pretty stupid thing for Dad to do.
