Last night, I accompanied my wife to a Republican womans meeting where the guest speaker was one of three Repubs running in the primary for MD governor.
First thing - when he took questions, I asked him that lets say he won the primary and his Dem opponent charges that he wants to turn back the clock on the rights for women, take away abortion, the choice of divorce, etc. How does he answer that charge? Well, I got a basic non-answer, such as I listen and people can look at my record, etc. Bloviating BS. I did not press the issue as I am a non-voting member and did not want to make my wife uncomfortable.
Second thing - one women asks the question how do we - Republicans - get extremists such as Tea Party people and Libertarians to vote for Republicans. So - since I have been to a couple Tea Party rallies and support what the Tea Party is doing - I am now an extremist.
Last thing - the same woman who asked that question at the end of the meeting stated that everyone should opppose Common Core. I wondered last night that a moderate Republican - Jeb Bush - is the main Republican pushing that piece of crap.
Basically, this is a vent post. I am thinking of contacting this woman via the leadership and letting her know the real deal.

Man, there’s an easy answer to her question.

Then you say, “Too extreme for you?”

Often those people are the candidate’s plants. The candidate obviously supports the eGOP and not conservatives. The majority of the people asking questions are pre-selected by the eGOP organizers. A good thing to do is get a list of the party operatives - people that volunteer and are often seen at the local HQ - and notice that they are the ones selected to ask these questions. Then, go to the next meeting for this candidate and notice maybe different people are there but he exact same questions are asked and the same answers given.
The grass roots Tea Party got started as a movement to reduce taxes, government spending and the debt. I have never signed up as one of the various Tea Party members so to me that is the basic party platform. There is nothing extremist about it.
From that point on people who feel they are Tea Party people have a variety of opinions on the different issues. I laugh when the media or democrats define me as being this that or the other. I know other people who define themselves as Tea Party and we disagree on various issues but we adhere to the basic too much government platform. If that is extremism, I'm also an extremist.
Well, yes. If you look at the Tea Party’s core positions, they are the Republican platform from before the GOPe went Democrat lite.

He Cut Taxes and said “Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country.”
I saw a man and his son get in to a car with that same bumper sticker. I was parked behind them, ready to leave. I pulled up slowly beside him ... his windows were down. He looked, saw me smile and then I said...”Saw your bumper sticker...I am, too”. He AND his kid got the biggest kick out of that.
Recognize a woman that prizes liberty over security is a relative rarity. And women comprise the majority of registered voters.
A woman who gives unvarnished support to the principles of the country as founded, and the Constitution as written, is pretty much a sociological anomaly.
Who the candidate is, is not the point. The point of the thread is a Republican calling the Tea Party extremist and than taking a Tea Party position on Common Core, thus taking the opposite position of what is considered a moderate Republican - Jeb Bush.
