Free Republic's first big event occurred on this day in 1998 in response to malfeasance in the Clinton Administration. Happy Anniversary! However, it is 15 years later and apparent that we are circling the drain.
That said, it was a great time in D.C. low those many years ago.
lo, of course.
My Bride and I were there.
Good to hear from you again. How have you guys been?
I worked security and that was fun. I also made the Spinach Dip (You don’t want to know why).
And your name wasn’t Appy Pappy! :)
It was not. That was two names ago.
Four of us drove all night from Florida to attend the March for Justice.
It was one of the greatest experiences ever!!!
Something parrot wasn’t it?
That was after the MFJ
It was, indeed. My brother and I drove all night as well, from Wisconsin. I was far more optimistic about our movement then than I am now... I’m sorry to say.
LOL! You may have been right the first time.
I was there, along with my husband, and then three young sons - the youngest (who is now, 22) who wore his Halloween Costume— because all the Freepers said that candy would be given out. We had a great time - I remember riding in the elevator with Matt Drudge and Lucianne Goldberg. It was wonderful getting to meet so many of the “freepers of the day”...Cal, Marie Antoinette, and so many of the others. Ha - memories!!
Struggling, but surviving. And getting older.
You?
Didn't the pro-Clinton people try to stage a counter-demonstration which attracted a handful of people?
Certainly getting older. We’re hunkered down in the boonies, getting ready as best we can.
They did but were overwhelmed. Our turnout was impressive. Jimrob stated his intent to protest at the White House and it mushroomed from there over a short time period.
I believe the underlying intent of this post is not, “yeah, those were the days”... but rather, it’s time to revisit this... Frankly, there should be demonstrations on the mall weekly by veterans, doctors, businessmen, you and me and every conservative-minded taxpayer in this nation.
I was there. I was the crazy guy running around getting everyone to sign his sweatshirt :)
Hey MasonGal! Marie Antoinette and I had a blast. Of course baby Lauren is now 15 years old! That was so fun. Lauren’s grandma got to see her for the first time on CSPAN.
I still have my red hat around here. I helped with the sound gear.
