310 hp 4 banger...that’s robust...light front end...improved handling....promising news from the blue oval.
would prefer a straight 6, Overhead Cam, belt driven with a six-pack and turbo charged. But a 4 cyl with 310 horsepower isn’t too shabby.
They fused it with a Fusion!
It looks like a Mustang.
At least they didn’t make it bigger like they did with the T-Bird and the ‘71 Mustang.
Where do you plug it in? Didn’t they get the memo from Obama?
See below for differences between the two renders.
It sure isn’t the 429 Mach 1 :(
I saw the new Mustang, or close to it, at a Car Survey I was invited to. You had to go through a Metal Detector to make sure you didn’t have a camera and no Cell Phones allowed.
I currently drive a 2011 Mustang. It’s been a great car.
The 2015 Mustang is a real step up, but it does have the Ford Corporate look grill. The retro front end is gone, and I hear that some in the Industry blame that for the slow Mustang Sales. I disagree, but I’m an old guy.
The big plus is the revised Interior and the Independent Rear Suspension. My old 1999 Mustang Cobra had IRS, but it was not well engineered. It was an add on to the old Fox Platform, not built into the Platform Design.
My first impression when first seeing the car was, I gotta get me one of those. The front Grill and Headlights were the only letdowns, but Ford is appealing to a new generation with a modern look. I could get used to it.
They had the current Competitors there as well, They all look dated, including the Camaro. BTW - The revised 2014 Camaro styling really sucks IMHO. I have no idea what they were thinking.
It looks like the beancounters took over the design department, again. If you want a re-bodied Taurus, just buy a Taurus, and save some money.
As for performance, trying to re-invent the flathead with OHC heads ala the modular motor was doomed from the get go. Putting grenade four bangers in them isn’t going to improve things any. Oh, and did I mention that the thing looks like an import tuner’s wet dream of a new mazda?
I like most of the exterior...but I really despise those low-profile tires.
I had the pleasure of driving one of the newer Mustangs a few years back. While the interior wasn’t much that thing moved!!! Chirping tires, handling and OOMPH. And...it was an airport rental (at a smaller airport) Must’ve had a V-8 because others we got from airports weren’t any where NEAR the power of that first one.
yuck.
Bzzzzz.....wrong.
I owned a 1980 Mustang with a 2.3 litre Turbo charged 4 cyl. engine. It was the one with the TRX suspension and Michelins. Nice little car.
Leaks of intellectual property before their time are taken very seriously within certain Corporate Cultures........
Wait till fashion for aerodynamic shapes gives way, as it always does in the neverending cycle, to square angles. You’ll see fugly then!
