The “Hippie boy” (as I called him) in Colorado, appeared to “get it” towards the end when the guy he was staying with went out to confront some people.
Don’t want to spoil it, but I thought they did a good job in showing the human characteristics and traits that would be on display during an event of this nature.
How it went from poking fun at a potential birth boom in 9 months to life or death scary after a few days.
From downright naivete and depending on the government (”Why isn’t anyone helping us?”) to those taking complete advantage of the situation, to those determined to keep the rest of “society” at bay.
I thought the show did a pretty good job in showing how quickly human depravity shows up in a situation that presents a real threat to one’s survival.
I don’t mind spoilers. Just because I freaked out, it did air already, so feel free to discuss any aspect.
I do worry about human depravity. Because if someone has no honor in living, I do not expect them to have any honor in a survival situation.
I did think it was a burn when the boyfriend, asked the father, if there was a bug-out bag for him. Nope. Sorry freeloader. That why it was so easy for him to give his girlfriend’s father’s preps away without compunction. He did not plan, save or stash. He only felt it was the right thing to do.

It showed up quickly in a multicultural US society because of its lack of racial cohesion. Recall what happened in New Orleans after hurricane Katrina.
Europe, when it still had a racially homogeneous society, suffered greatly during WWI and WWII. Yet, the situations as described in ‘American Blackout’ was not the usual order of the day in Germany and other nations affected by the wars.
Of course, things will not be the same today should the SHTF and it will become a ‘culture’ eat ‘culture’ world just like it will be in America. Such are the blessings of diversity.
