Way back in the Lyndon Johnson years, the government started paying women to have babies out of wedlock. Of course, this was not the aim of the government, but it’s how it turned out.
The bleeding hearts felt bad for the young girl/woman who had a child with no father in the home, and no one to help pay for food and rent.
That was a “feel good, liberal thing” to do. And of course, it sounded ok on the surface.
It wasn’t long though, before a lot of people figured out how to game the system. For each child out of wedlock, with no father to help support it, the woman’s welfare check was increased. She would then give a portion of the increase to the father of the child—but, according to the rules, the father could not be living in the home—or the welfare checks would stop.
Think about this-—our “feel good” liberal government, way back in the 50’s started this program.........and it’s still going on today. In large numbers. Several generations of Americans have large populations of people who don’t know who their fathers are, have no ambition to improve their lives, and are satisfied to live off of the taxpayers of their fellow countrymen.
