I am so sick of films that are dependent on special effects.
I thought Avatar sucked.

I just want to see some good acting and a good plot.

Indeed. “Gravity” was merely a special effects vehicle to showcase Sandra Bullock’s “acting” abilities for an Oscar nomination.

What a waste.

Avatar was lightweight in all regards except special effects.

As with you, I look for good; plot, script, and acting. Special effects, cinematography, and soundtrack can then provide the support to create a great movie.

Loved “The Count of Monte Cristo” movie version you linked. Increasingly rare for Hollywood to produce that fine a work.
