The undercurrent of homosexuality in both Fitzgerald and Hemingway was written about decades ago by the critic Leslie Fiedler, who said that all the major female characters in their novels were really boys disguised as girls.

That guy didn't read Gatsby very closely. How could he make such basic errors as Carraway being 26, when it clearly mentions his 30th birthday. Also, Jay Gatz didn't change his name and leave his family for Daisy, he had done that earlier. In order to make his argument, he dumps negates all the actual themes about class, which Fitzgerald actually was interested in, as opposed to homosexuality, which I know of no evidence Fitgerald was concerned with.

For the record, Fitzgerald was known to be slightly what we might today term to be homophobic.
