I did answer it. You didn't like the answer because it does not line up with your misconceptions. Nothing new there...we have gone around and around on it for years.

Not very well. The Bible calls upon us to do works, yet you didn't abandon the truth of the Bible. Why?

I've asked Mormon after Mormon whether they can work their way to Heaven without the salvation and grace of Jesus Christ and they always say, "No". Why do you or did you believe when you were LDS that you could work your way to Heaven. It almost sounds like you were revolting against yourself or your own personal beliefs/misunderstanding.
