Oh for gods sake. The winning coach benched his first team AND his second team. His THIRD team was still too much for them to handle.
Here’s the moral of the story that the kids SHOULD learn:
Some kids are better at things than other kids. Sometimes, they’re ALOT better.
It least it shattered any illusions those kids had of ever making it in the NFL, so they’d better start hitting the books.
There are many high schools in the Metroplex that are fed by their youth football programs, and I'll bet that Aledo has such a program.
It's no surprise that a 3rd or even 4th string would do well against a lesser opponent. These players likely have upwards of 5 years and more experience in the offensive and defensive schemes used by the HS coach.
On my son's U-12 team, each player is issued a scaled-down version of the playbook used by the HS, with an additional emphasis on terminology. When he plays on the freshman team in 3 years, he'll have 4-5 years experience in the Coppell way of doing things.
The advantage over schools that don't have these programs is enormous.
