I try to zip up first., so I don’t step on the main vein.... ;-)
Of course, i’m only two feet tall.
OK, probably too late for this conversation. But it is a weird situation.
My hometown Jayhawks have lost 4 straight and find themselves 4-4 with the final game coming up. That’s 4-3 in games that count in the conference.
Now they play their arch-rival Friday for a chance at a playoff game.
Here’s where it gets weird.
The 2nd place team in our conference has had a player declared ineligible because he had a 9th grade year once in Michigan and again in PA. So they have been ruled to forfeit all games this year. They are appealing to the state association.
Playoff pairings are next Monday, so the state must decide quickly.
If the forfeits stand, then my team is in the playoffs. Friday’s game against the hated rival is for 2nd place and a home playoff game. But they will play a playoff game regardless.
Now, if the state over-rules the forfeits, then my team probably has to win to earn any playoff berth. No home game possible.
But it would still be possible, if another team loses, to make the playoffs with a 5 game losing streak.
So, my question is, goodness isn’t this more complicated than it has to be? We used to just figure Gardner points and then be happy.
Gardner Points? Look it up. That means you, xsmommy. It’s part of your heritage. ;-)
