The Cuyahoga River was my first thought too. How long has it been since the last time it caught fire. And the enviros try to tell that pollution is worse now then ever before.

Back when the river caught on fire (several times, although it made national news just once) the Cuyahoga was less a river than a toxic waste disposal channel. The river tour boat, with the unintentionally funny name of the Good Time II, plied the waters through the industrial Flats carrying kids on school outings. I remember the river displayed a mix of day glow colors and odors that nature would never produce on her own. The mix of those chemicals and floating wood debris was what caught fire.

This Guinness Records "happening" probably should have been in commemoration of another legendary Cleveland national news embarrassing event, when the flowing Slavic mane of then Mayor Ralph Perk also caught fire.

It takes thick skin and a sense of humor to grow up sane in these parts.
