COLLEGE STATION, Texas -- Nick Marshall accounted for four scores and No. 24 Auburn battered Johnny Manziel in a 45-41 win over No. 7 Texas A&M on Saturday.
Tre Mason's 5-yard score with less than 2 minutes to play was first placed at the 1, but it was reviewed and ruled a touchdown.
A&M (5-2, 2-2 SEC) had a last chance, but Manziel, the Heisman Trophy winner, was sacked by Dee Ford on fourth down to secure the win.
Manziel threw for 454 yards and four touchdowns and ran for a fifth score, but was intercepted twice. He missed a series in the fourth quarter with an apparent injury to his right arm or shoulder. He returned but was constantly moving his right arm.
Marshall threw for 236 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 100 yards and two more scores for Auburn (6-1, 3-1), which lost 63-21 to the Aggies last season.
Texas A&M's Mike Evans had a school-record 287 yards receiving with four touchdowns to become the first player in school history to have two, 200-yard receiving games in a career. He scored on receptions of 26, 64, 42 and 33 yards.
Auburn entered the game leading the SEC with 287 yards rushing a game and piled up 379 yards rushing against the Aggies. Mason led the way with 178 yards and Corey Grant added 45.
Manziel connected with Evans for his fourth TD on a 33-yard pass -- that Auburn was called for pass interference on -- giving A&M a 31-24 lead late in the third quarter.
Manziel was injured when he was tackled on an 8-yard run early in the fourth quarter.

Who would have thought that by next week, Missouri could pretty much have the SEC East wrapped up?
It’s definitely moving day in the SEC, Florida, South Carolina, Georgia, A&M and looks like LSU are all going down.
It was a great game. Heartpounding even.
I was pulling for Auburn bigtime. Glad to see that cocky little Manziel go down in defeat. Looks like we’ll have an exciting Iron Bowl this year. If Ole Miss holds on and beats LSU tonight, Auburn would have a shot at the SEC title game (aka the National Championship game).
They missed those 30+ holding penalties on the A&M offensive linemen too.
Moving Day doesn’t explain it. Tenn, Valpo in the top 25 now? That makes 9!
SEC Rules! Everyone else Drools!
Florida won’t be in the Top 25, that’s for sure.
I hope mine get a chance to go . . . sometime soon.
Let’s say for the sake of argument Mizzou runs the table....Do they get in over Oregon or FSU if they also go unbeaten. (FSU is tanning Clemson’s hide so far)
That’s a tough call. Mizzou beating BAMA should count for a lot. But so would FSU beating Clemson, Miami, and the Gators in the Swamp. I’ll go with Mizzou and FSU in the title game. Screw the Pac-12.
My ultimate nightmare Championship Game.....FSU vs Ohio State.
I think I’d root for a meteor strike in the middle of the field if that matchup happens.
WAR EAGLE!!!
It’s all fixed. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.
WAR DAMN EAGLE!
Verne Lundquist and Gary Danielson are Auburn haters.
GO Ole Miss!
oh get over yourself
hehehehe
It’s 17-14 now, LSU is coming back.
One of my morning coffee buddies is a retired vet, Auburn grad. His son-in-law’s dad was A & M. My namesake and grandfather was Auburn. My family is infected from top to bottom with LSU people. If only we could get all these folks who invest all this emotion in a game to put the same effort into politics, Obama would be just a bad dream...
til now
