Fun article, and I don’t disagree with some of the picks. But the guy is WAY wrong on The Eagles, IMHO. Their early stuff, in particular, is fantastic. To this day I still keep a copy of Eagles’ Greatest Hits, Vol. 1 in the car for long drives. The miles just slip by when that one is playing. Don’t so much care for the later sound with Joe Walsh (nothing against Joe, the whole band was going a way I didn’t like).
As for Henley and other solo Eagles...eh. I hated most of Henley’s solo work, but Boys of Summer is a classic, and Glenn Frey’s “Party Town” album is a lot of fun.
I also agree with the poster who says its time to get Warren Zevon in the HoF. Excitable Boy is a brilliant album, start to finish.
Pretentious musicians aside, I’d be for kicking out the rap, fern bar singers, and disco acts from the ROCK AND ROLL hall of fame.
The hook from plenty of rock music has been lifted in total (no other songs references, just the existing “radio hit”) to make ‘new’ rap songs. Didn’t even play the notes.
Ironic yet. But hardly “art”. And any “rap hall” is unlikely to induct those rock acts as a “key influence”.
If for no other reason than “Already Gone”, I vote to keep the Eagles in the HoF.
