A pro-Mitch McConnell super PAC has raised $1.2 million since it was created in April, bringing in donations from big names such as Donald Trump and deceased megadonor Bob Perry.
Trump contributed $50,000 to Kentuckians for Strong Leadership, and Perry, who died in April, gave $100,000, according to reports filed Wednesday with the Federal Election Commission.
The date for Perrys donation is listed in the report as June 3 almost two months after he died.
We looked into this and found a clerical error in the report, Caleb Crosby, treasurer for the group, told POLITICO. Our records reflect that we actually received the check on April 12. We have amended the report to reflect the correct information.
Perry wrote several checks totaling $3 million in the weeks before his death.
Other major GOP donors who gave to the super PAC include John Childs, a private-equity investor who gave $4.2 million in the 2012 election cycle, and Philip Geier, who gave nearly $2 million last year.
The super PAC has so far spent $370,000 most of which went toward media placement to benefit McConnell, the Senate minority leader. It has more than $800,000 in the bank.
Mr. niteowl77
time to dump Reids bitch McConnell
Unless he uses that money to have a spine installed it will not do him any good. I do not believe that the great state of Kentucky will re-elect him after this display of complete capitulation.
