California mom Maria Kang posted a Faceook photo of herself showing off six-pack abs in a sports bra and shorts posing with her three sons aged 3, 2 and 8 months, alongside the caption Whats Your Excuse? and the backlash has been extreme.
The photo has received more than 12,000 Facebook shares and 16,000 comments. Most of them have not been complimentary and accuse Kang of mocking overweight mothers.
"I don't feel this motivates people all that much, it's sorta just a prideful brag thrown onto Facebook in front of many women's faces just to tease and mock them," wrote one critic.
"Right...I'm sure she has a nanny doing all the work while she works out all day," commented another.
Another commenter suggested "something like - 'You Can!', 'It's Achievable!', 'It's Worth It!', would make more of a statement that appeals to more women without assuming we all are making excuses!"
Kang, 32, has gotten used to all the negativity.

Its not fair !! (lol /sarc) to judge american women against asian women in the wight and size category,,, imho
Egregious silliness.
America’s in the sh*tter and going down fast, and people are worried about the shape of their tummies?
Maybe once Obama and the Democrats have crashed the dollar, people will find it impossible to buy food - at which point, EVERYONE’S “abs” will be visible.
Bingo!
Rush Limbaugh is hardly an example of how to create a family that builds a healthy society.
Wow, natural blondes! Only one of my 10 got that gene, plus two redheads and a batch of various browns.
Not the slightest bit guilty.
Well, we had the genes for blonde hair, but I also had the genes for big babies and stretch marks. Luckily this little lady Mrs. King had smaller babies and no stretch marks. That doesn’t come from hard work, it comes from genetics.
Whatever these posters say, not every woman can pop out kids, work out and look terrific. It isn’t just that. I was able to keep a trim and muscular body, but my tummy was a network of stretchmarks. No amount of diet, exercise and hard work were going to get rid of those.
I’ve got stretch marks like the surface of the moon, myself. Maybe her advertising photo has been Photoshopped.
Not guilty.
Both statements are true! It's going to take another few hundred years to begin to change that. And it will require honest men and women to accomplish the change. We are in seriously short supply of both.
Gee - Anybody that didn’t know that facebook and twitter are dominated by leftists would be tempted to care about their criticism.
Thanks 11th Commandment.
Funny, but not true. That was when the kids were young. We moved 13 years ago deeper into the woods, and now it’s 1/2 mile to the mailbox, and she walks up and back 2x a day on normal days - 2 miles.
She is the one who is disciplined, not me. She gets all the credit. I would let her drive the tractor at least, but she wants to walk!
For years I ran the 4 mile loop around our country block, but arthritis under kneecaps has cut that run to a mile or so, walking the rest at a fast pace......
