Me too. In fact, I might not even buy it. But I like to know random pieces of information. Information is much less terrifying than guns! Ew! Guns are BAD! Ew!
I have a 3-9 Bushnel on my 243 auto that is a great scope. good name brand.

An AR with an Aimpoint red dot should be good for any realistic ‘zombie’ engagements. If you need to reach out more you can add a 3x multiplier, but if you need to reach out more get a .308.
Red dot or Holo? Magnifier includes or seperate purchase?
Iron sights are OK, esp at 300 yards. I do see holo or dot sights at 3 gun matches, they offer quick acquisition but most take batteries.
A scope that allows you to look under and use the irons will solve a lot of problems.
Bushnell as mentioned above is a good name.
I’ve become fond of the Millett DMS with donut reticle. It ain’t overly tacticool, but it works and seems well-made for the price.

Bushnells seem cheaper, I definitely agree with iron sight ability. I did read that Bushells are not as durable and I am willing to spend for durability. One scope with batteries had a three year life, when left on ALL THE TIME, so that one is a top contender.

Heavens, no! Humblegunner reminded me that guns are scary! I am only seeking this information as a thought-exercise! :)
If I HAD to buy a scope, I’d want that kind in the movies
that just snaps on and is automatically sighted in.
I’ve always thought that was super cool, guy takes a broken
down weapon out of a bag, snap, click, twist twist and he’s good to go.

Tell the truth Laz - these days, when you say, "I'd hit it", you're talking about getting lucky with a down-range target; aren't you?
Bushnell is a reliable brand - something variable, with up to 9 power, should be sufficient. Varying price range - $500 should cover more scope than you need. I have one with illuminated reticules - OK for certain low light situations, but generally not necessary. But, the red and green options make shooting seem like Christmas...
I don’t really want a rifle other than the one I have my eyes on. It will be months or years before I get it, but I want this one particular rifle. I need to know what optics I need, only.
