If your computer Mobo/CPU is 64-bit it makes no sense using a 32-bit OS. Other than that XP SP3 is a fine OS. I prefer W7 though. A 64-bit OS and USB3 is a great combo for digital photography and video.

Some older prgms will not run in 64-bit. The XP I reloaded was an old system for someone who just wanted a clean install and mostly used it for getting online and etc.

I'm running 7 on this Dell Precision laptop I use mostly now, but have to use XP in a Windows Virtual mode for some older development apps I still use.

It makes no sense using a 64 bit OS unless you have more than 4Gb of ram. I’m behind the curve. Most of my boards only go to 4Gb, and even then they only actually see/use about 3Gb.
