Well, my definition of this sort of manufactured word is someone that engages in singing music with a Barbershop Quartet.

I haven't heard that term in years......but with that being said, I had several uncles in northern Michigan who had a barbershop quartet and sang for years and years and years

I love listening to a good Barbershop Quartet. Certainly preferable over what they call music today IMO.
