One more thing. If memory serves correctly, Thomas Dewey is credited with not just the Dewey Decimal System used in libraries but the foundation of the current educational system. I also seem to remember that he was a a Fabian socialist and Progressive. I also seem to remember he was a pacifist and a favorite of the Wilson administration. I am open to correction on these recollections. It has been years, no decades since I read about him and it may be two different Thomas Dewey. It seems to me that if we started with such a demonstrably flawed philosophy promoted by a man deeply motivated by that philosophy, we should not be surprised by it’s failure to nourish the Freedom and Liberty provided for by our Constitution since such notions are anathema to all other political philosophy.
