Playoff selection snit shouldn't overshadow the last season of BCS

It seems almost sacrilege that controversy over a new college football playoff system should be allowed to overshadow the last season of the controversial BCS.

The BCS deserves center stage as it takes its last walk down the halls of horror.

All this talk about whether Condoleezza Rice should be on a selection panel she has not yet been named to yet is a slap in the face to a BCS system that for 15 years has misfired more often than a Yugo.

The first BCS Standings will be released Oct. 20 -- that's only a week from Sunday.

Shouldn't we all be gearing up for those follies?

Everybody has Bama and Oregon already pencilled in.

But...what if FSU/Clemson or Baylor run the table, as well?

Jeez... Can’t we get rid of Condoleezza Rice once and for all?

Georgia's rash if injuries Saturday showed how quickly a teams fortunes can change. Still a little early to be projecting any teams, IMHO.

You know this, but there is still a reason they play 'em.

Yep, if Murphy goes down, Florida probably doesn’t win another game.

I was think more in terms of what if you did have all four of those teams unbeaten? You’re right, a lot can happen between now and then, and maybe things will sort themselves out in the end, as they usually have.

Florida State and Clemson can’t both be undefeated since they would meet in the ACC Championship game. Same with Oregon and Stanford if they didn’t play in the regular season.

Why don’t we just don’t enjoy the season? There’s a lot of pretty good teams this year.

Which is why I had the slash between them, indicating whomever came out of the conference.

I’m really excited about Baylor. I don’t know how anyone can stop them. They had 369 total yards...IN THE FIRST QUARTER, against West Virginia, who had beaten OK State the week before.

With the exception of 2010, Oregon has found a way to lose to a team that could control clock, pound between the tackles and dink/dunk the passing game. FSU beats Clemson then Miami beats FSU and those two are out. So hard to predict.

Then it looks like somebody(ies) have been dropping a dingleberry on UAT every couple of weeks. Clinton-Dix may be the end of it, maybe not. They have played distracted on offense with the exception of TAM. Defense and special teams have padded the scoreboard.

Who knows. Lots of ball left.

Miami won’t beat FSU. I hate to say it, but I don’t see anyone beating FSU right now, not even Clemson.

Hey, what’s going on here?

I know, it’s depressing to contemplate....watching that Maryland game I got bad Charlie Ward flashbacks.

That being said, I love how Murphy is playing, I just pray he doesn’t get hurt....I think we’ve got a good chance to win against LSU, if the defense plays to their potential.

I certainly hope Miami doesn’t manage to beat FSU. Rather liked Jimbo Fisher all the way back to his playing and coaching days at Samford.

I think FSU beats Miami by 30.

FSU is looking good. I watched some of the game as well.

A win over LSU would be big for us.

I’d rather lose to LSU and beat Georgia and South Carolina, and Missouri. You can lose to LSU and still control your destiny in the SEC East.

If Auburn could move the ball on LSU then UF certainly can. (and I say that as an Auburn fan)

I do agree that LSU’s defense is not that great....that’s why I think we have a good chance. Florida probably has the best D in the SEC, so that’s where I do think we have a chance to have a pretty good year, if Murphy continues to play as well as he has. He is a much, much better leader than Driskel ever was.
