Yawkey Way is gonna be something to see after we win. Wonder how the BPD will make their presence known in the wake of the Marathon terrorist attack. That whole area is a big target..hope all stay safe..
A prison guard that I know told me on Saturday that he was notified that some of them could be called up for security details in Boston.
I never heard of prison guards being used for details, so it looks like Boston will be heavily guarded.
I still won’t go to any public celebration. Not happening.
Hubby and I were lucky to be at the ALCS game where the Red Sox defeated the Tigers (Victorino's grand slam sealed the deal). We "partied" at Fenway until 1:15 AM ET, when Fenway Security started kicking everybody out.
When we got out onto Yawkey Way, then Landsdowne Street, we were stunned to see the numerous bars in the area all closed down early (this was on a Saturday night). The Boston Police had mandated that the bars all close sometime right after the game ended (I don't know specifically what time). The usual club-hopper types were wandering around, wondering why all the bars were closed. It was strange. But that's one example of how the Boston PD will try to control the area immediately around Fenway.
On the NESN post-game show last night, there was a crawl going across the screen suggesting that Game 6 attendees "leave their cars at home" and take the T into Boston. On-street parking will be unavailable except for Fenway-area residents with residential permit stickers on their cars.
There ARE several parking lots and garages in the Fenway area, so I don't think it will be impossible to drive at least within a few blocks of Fenway Park.
