The Forest Service could not make money selling firewood and the IRS could not make any money running the Mustang Ranch in Nevada.

This means all timber harvests, all campgrounds and I do not know yet, but may mean all USFS roads.

Per the timber harvests, this is clear breach of contract.

It also means that they are violating what they are supposed to do..which is manage those lands which are held IN TRUST for the public. 20% of Timber harvest proceeds are to be paid to local schools in place of taxes.

Just in time for first rifle season Elk in Colorado. If they try to close access to hunters on Forest Service roads it could get ugly in the west. I know a mny hunters and not one has an Obama bumper sticker. I imagine the state biologists will warn of huge winter starvation of Elk and mule deer if the herds are not thinned out by hunters. But if the Won thinks he can close the oceans, he might just try to close the forests. There is a big difference though, hunters carry guns not fishing rods.

OH NO!

The forests are doomed!

In fact they are already gone, just like the oceans!

Great!

No more tree cops.

Around these parts, a lot of them are armed and have been known to shoot unarmed people for demonstrating "contempt of tree cop".

You all do understand that unlike the Park service all the USFS does is manage a lot of these lands as a lot of it is held in trust for the people.

Hate to point this out to the feds, because the last thing I want to do is help totalitarian fascists, but every day a web site is down, every day a park is closed and every day a service is shut down, you lose long term customers. They look elsewhere and find other alternatives. Once those alternatives are established, why ever go back to an unreliable situation ?
