Report: Bestselling author Tom Clancy died in a hospital in Baltimore on Tuesday, his publisher confirms to @nytimes - @juliebosman— Breaking News (@BreakingNews) October 2, 2013
You are absolutely correct in that...
He was eventually given access to some information to give him the ability to clarify, and make more accurate the “outcome” of certain story plots...Not exactly divulging clasified capabilities or procedures, but he was one of the few literary folks to be trusted to NOT give away too much that would jeopardize our armed forces...
That is why a lot of us in Operations, and other tactical jobs appreciated the “edge” he put into his writings...We could relate to the folks he put into those stories, and the situations they were placed in...So in the end it all worked out, and most of all...
We were aways entertained...
“Without Remorse” is in my all-time top three.
Yep, I remember that...I figured he wasn’t all onboard with that re-write, but hey, he didn’t write the screenplay...And that was a production decision, simply based upon his un-willingness to compramise his novels’ underlying theme...
If there ever was a chance that some of Matt Brakens’ novels ever got a look at by some production group, I am sure that they would be drastically altered to not offend a certain demographic or other concerns they might have...
Something Matt would most likely not sign off on as well...But hey, money is money...hehehe, and I never would fault someone for wanting to make some money these days...
Just my opinion...

I called work and told them I was sick that day - just so I could finish the Clancy book I was reading at the time.
RIP Tom Clancy

Rest in peace, Mr. Clancy.
RIP! Tom Clancy was for years my favorite contemporary author. Still in the Top 3.
yup
RIP.
John Clark never weeps.
I'm sure that our intelligence community knows our enemies can draw accurate conclusions, they just don't want a well-known author to put those conclusions in print!
Heck, for all we know, Clancy may have worked with the NSA to spread misinformation through his novels...
He didn't.
good point!
forgot about that one...it was goooooood.
Thanks for the many great reads, Tom.
Oh man.... am reading Shadow Warriors now.. Sad day for us Clancy fans :^(
Rest in Peace Mr. Clancy.
