Traffic should be less, more parking available, shorter lines at reataurants. What’s there not to like about a government shutdown?

A year or two ago, the SEPTA bus system in Philly went on strike. I live in the Plymouth Meeting area - a first ring burb with lots of retail and other low level clerical jobs. Because the city is such a cesspool of business crushing taxes, lots of city folk with an ounce of ambition hop on the bus and commute to their job in the burbs. Well, when SEPTA went on strike, traffic flowed better than it had in years. All those bleepity bleepin busses mucking up traffic on the main roads were suddenly gone, yet somehow the stores remained fully staffed. It was an eye opener for me - now I believe that busses are hazardous to the environment compared to regular automobiles.

I know people worried about their SSI checks and SNAP benefits.

I tell them “That’s up to Obama to decide if those are essential spending or not”
