No. It is unpaid leave and is hurting a lot of FReepers also but no one here seems to care. Not everyone gets a “huge” federal salary you know. Some make median US income or less.

when the ‘shutdown’ ends, the fedgov issues checks which includes the time it was ‘shut down’... making it a paid vacation

as for making median income... it’s not quite the same when you have the ultimate job security and a lifetime pension waiting for you (if you can put up with it long enough)

in the real world, if you do a piss poor job, you lose customers... and you’re not allowed to just print more money to cover the bills. and we have no lifetime pensions, except for the amounts we can squirrel away after handing over 61% to the fedgov (and up to 14% to the stategov)

meanwhile, the fedgov has been spending $3.5 trillion/yr for the last 4.5 yrs... while bringing in ‘only’ $2 trillion in annual tax revenues. eventually, those supplying the credit will shut down the drunken spending and expect some accountability

I have tried to say that because some of us appreciate what you are personally going through

It’s too easy to sit here and type “shut it down” when you have no skin in the game

take care
