The max ss benefit in 1998 when this guy could have retired was $1342. So the $1200 today would be way low with the annual increases since then. There is more to this story

SS does not have annual increases. Increases are based on some arcane determination of cost of living increases.

Yep, this is a fake story, there either is or isn’t a story involving this guy, which ever it is, these articles (this one, Wash Post, Huffington,etc) aren’t reporting it.
